Today's warmup before getting on some comic commissions. Experimenting with new inking tools over previously done pencils of this jumping boy sketch. Really digging them. Using my trusty Intuos 2 wacom stylus and instead of photoshop was experimenting with inking tools in Inkscape, a very powerful opensource vector program. Thats right, everything you see here is lossless vector related art. And in MANY MANY ways the inking tools in this program, with its vector rendering which is lighter on CPU usage and the assist of some 'smoothing' for crisper lines, seems far superior to what i've been previously using in photoshop. Much more brush weight angle and other characteristic controls. Easy enough to save out import into photoshop for coloring. But there are some fluidiity draw backs. Perhaps in time these will be eliminated as I get more used to inkscape for inking, but till then photoshop will still be faster and have more tools at my disposal ready to go. Inkscape is still experimental for now but where applicable may find its way into more and more projects.

What do you think of this 'ink test' for todays warmup? Has a different aesthetic to it for sure.
Working on comic-page commissions rest of the week, see everyone 9pm EST each night for a single character slot commish session.
