4K Follows Piece - WIP Inks

 

Thanks for a fun/ different kind of stream today. Finally pulled this off the shelf after hitting 4K beginning of Fall 2022, and doing a 4K celebration piece/ stream. We got pretty far today! Thanks for joining me on this unusual stream , I think its coming out good. We'll continue with 'part 3' on Friday and see if we can get to start flat coloring. Going to go get some food and rest and see you for some Drawing Requests tomorrow 10amET. I'm going to keep them 5min requests, 1 at a time per person before cooldown. Even toying with just raffling to pick people all day. I dunno... come out tomorrow, snag the first drawing of the stream and find out! See ya then.

Up before the sun working on Vol 3 this morning!! It feels good! A new book is coming along! Thanks to the crew and the rest of yew that make this possible! As of this post, I have all the art slapped on the pages. The book is a few pages over 200 and I've got finalized layouts for about 20 pages similar to the one showed above. Thanks everyone that got volume one and volume two and have expressed interest in volume three. I really appreciate the encouragement and enthusiasm of the crew. I feed off of that. Wednesdays A Wrap - Heres Yo Recap

Final piece worked on today, 'Canopy' the jungle huntress and her raptor twins. Mostly inked, while listening to the soundtrack from Jurassic Park. Really made it. Get this wrapped up Friday

Got a new commission featuring Fathom and PowerStar for TamTam - this is a concept sketch while I had him live to get an idea of what he was looking for

A new offer I launched today on EWG Twitch Stream is 'On The Spot' commissions. While Im working live anytime (except a exclusive event) a customer/ viewer can send 12 for a sketch, 24 for a black and white and 36 for color and i will stop what im working on, do that for them there while they hangout and send it out. Then resume what i was working on after. If your not going to sit in live and watch it or want more than a single character art, then you have to either by slots or do a normal queue commission. Fun stuff! Shes dancin shaking her booty with some mardis gras beads and I had disco dance songs playing the whole time. Was a great time. Really enjoyed working on it. I think its visible in her face :) 

A concept prelim sketch for Kharnage Unleashed, a tshirt design w/ theme 'Kharnage: Vangaurd'. So far seems the one on the right will be the direction we go.

This is my warmup sketch this morning whilst getting ready to work on customer orders. Random... the stuff that comes out of my brain sometimes...

Streamed on Twitch all afternoon! This is my current setup. I'm still a twitch / stream noob. But people seemed to really respond to this new setup. The noteable difference is the list of what im working on, and above it the new EWG 'mill worker' mascot and 3 options for people to buy 'on the spot' commissions. Was a good success. Its one of those things that will become more popular once more people know about them. So far I only got one from good ol DACOMMISSIONER (previously CDB) - but hoping to have more in the future. Might even toss chibis on there as an exclusive way to get them without waiting for specific 'chibi sales'.

Alright, great day lots of drawing took place. Lots of randomocity and hilarity from my crazy commentary as I worked on mic/ cam. 

The vote is in for the 'live sketch request stream' preference, and it looks like wednesdays are winning out. I will here by officialy do a live sketch request stream next wedneday starting 8pmEST! So hope to see folks out, same twitch channel same twitch.. stream?

Working on this commission in Inkscape to cap the day today. Dwald's OC 'Canopy' and her two pet raptors / hunting companions. Was a fun piece to work on. Streamed the progress and also recorded it might upload the pencils to youtube sometime soon. Had Jurassic World soundtrack on youtube playing in background. Really helped set the mood. Alright, this will be inked/ colored but for now its a stopping point. Special thanks to my wife Kristina for flatting 5 character arts this week which I was able to then shade/highlight and send finished to the clients in one hour. Saved me hours of work while I worked on other jobs. Look for me to start booking slots starting next week but till then, have a great weekend! Beware the coming snow storm!

Making headway on this current Ungrounded chapter I'm working on. My best yet me thinks. Can't wait for people to check it out. But for now, gotta go take a nap/ have dinner. etc.

Week End, New Year

Heres some pencils I'm cleaning up on a page of new Ungrounded storyness. Some werewolf vampire military action. Pencils in progress on the ol' Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 with new Wacom Bamboo Smart I got for christmas. Got the settings in a very nice place between setting up the pixels in sketchbook and the tool settings so they are responding nicely with the wacom stylus. Very cool. Going to keep tooling on this and some other things over the weekend on the tablet. Also tomorrow going to knock out those UTMNT sketches for indie gogo supporters. Getting seasonal out there finaly, you all have a great weekend and stay warm. Heres to a great start to the new year, lets keep it up!

Live Sketch Night - Holiday Edition 2 of 2 is mostly complete

So, I don't know if I hurt myself or helped myself changing the work flow to trying to pencil all 6 then ink all six then color 5 of the colored orders. But I think it definitely resulted in some really cool drawings concentrating on just sketching them out first and then doing the inking/ coloring after. On the other hand I spent all night sketching them and then inking them and didnt even get to the black fills or colors lol. Well, I can honestly say the Live Sketch Night holiday edition has been a success, got about 4-5 orders Tuesday and about 6 tonight. I do believe folks enjoyed comin out taking advantage of the special holiday prices and such. The chat was bustling and the requests were all really cool. I'm just sorry to make people sit in there 4 hours and I didnt get one piece 100% done. After some consideration I will finish these up Monday evening on 3rd livestream that will serve just to allow these customers to come back out and see it happen like they were doing tonight. Only pushing it to then cause tomorrow I got things to get out before I head out of town for the weekend.

Turtles Wraparound Cover Pencils Progress and Week Wrap Up

The above pic is the latest glimpse at my work in progress on the UTMNT No1 Issue Reprint cover. This special wraparound cover is going to be epic when done. Trying to do my best pencils and inks on this piece so its going to take a bit longer than your standard sketched out deal. Still some proportion adjustments to make then will do finished pencils and then inks. Should be done in the next week or two.

This week was a challenging one. I had to unfortunately push some character art and logo graphic jobs back to next week, as priority was getting Transformers 'Another Light' final pages done and out. I'm happy to say I met my personal goal of having it wrapped up by Wednesday. There was some emotion working on final touches of the last page. I was listening to the Transformers movie soundtrack, they were doing the autobots arrive to earth/ optimus prime hero suite, and I was putting final touches on some stars and masking and panel edge touch ups. Got a little emotional I must say. Was only for a moment but was both thrilled I made it to the end of all 41 pages, thrilled that this last chapter came out so epic, happy to finaly take a break from the hardwork of the transformers pages, and sad for it to be done.

Thursday was devoted to TnC and some business stuff in the morning and eaten up by Halloween costume making and trick or treat preparing all Thursday afternoon. What can i say, the hype got me I couldnt concentrate on anything else except halloween all afternoon/ evening. Then, after the trick or treating and a short rest, i finished up TnC that evening.

Friday has been black and white sketch commissions, some website updates (namely taking down the greeting card special item, and updating the website's gallery) and then working hard for several hours on the turtles cover. 

Overall I think my lack of focus on thursday, and my sluggish pace today, was due to working on 7 transformers pages straight monday, tuesday and wednesday. Morning, Afternoon and Evening. Monday i spent finishing up pencils on some areas I wasnt happy with. Then tuesday through wednesday I inked all 7 pages. I thought Tuesday was a record with 3 pages, but Wednesday I did 4. And I really dig how they came out. Don't feel I really sacrificed anything. All the hardwork and figuring was done in the pencils for me, so I penciled all of them first, and let the inks fly without too much second guessing.

Anywho, as I said I did not get to many other commissions, just the must-do comic work this week. Hoping with transformers out of the way, I can buckle down on the backburner, finish up the character art sitting waiting to be completed, get the logos off my desk for good and get ahead on some more comics. 

Will officialy begin working on the 5 greeting card orders i got too and those will be a lot of fun. Should have those wrapped in about two weeks if I stay ontop of it. 

Will be livestreaming Tuesday night at 9PMEST a spiderman/ kid piece. Thursday do a transformers fan piece and a kylie from ghost busters piece starting at 830PMEST

Inktober - Day 12 - Galaxy Chibi

From the chibi micro special I had over the weekend. This is the first order, out of about 5 or 6 I'm doing this week. Streamed and recorded the session while working on it. Penciled this chibi on the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 while watching new Big Bang and Scorpion with the wife. Then came upstairs, fired up picarto and winamp and inked and colored this little lady. Recorded the video too will post it up on youtube eventually. While I have to do these chibis AND trying to maintain the Inktober discipline, I'm going to be combining them. Drawing chibis for Inktober then coloring them to finish them up for their respective client. Should be back to free-style Inktobers by end of the week. In which case I want to play with my personal characters designs and also some halloween stuff.

For me, whether its with ballpoint pen in a sketchbook, or illustrated with brush pen and alcohol markers on cardstock or done digitally on samsung tablet or on desktop... Inktober for me, is a purposeful commitment to doing one complete black and white drawing, whether it be digital ink or real-life ink, every day till the end of the month. That in itself, pushes improvement, experimentation, and fun.
